Not buying much these days and when I do I am
not bothering to write about it anywhere other than the
tpc.hardware newsgroup.
There are enough dead links on the web.
I am keeping track of what I have on my Palm using
ThinkDB. It does the job.

Kakaku.com is a good site for
finding local prices (Japan) of hardware.

I finally bought a new PC. Sure makes a
difference.

My goal is to have a list of all the stuff I have bought, when I bought it, what
I paid for it and what I think of it. I hope to add links to any sites that are
related to it. This will help when people ask about something that I have. Also
if I go to sell something all the info is there. That is assuming the stuff is
still worth anything. <g>
Recently I haven't bought much of anything. Too broke.
Not sure what format to do this in. Want something simple like a spreadsheet
view. Should I use Excel? Yuck! It's very rare for me to be able to keep too
much bloatware open at once.
I actually gave away two computers today. Both were 486 DX2-66 machines. One was
my machine for about 4 years and then was the Linux server for the Tokyo
PC Users Group for the past two. When I shut it down last night it had gone.
I am so glad to be rid of them. The TPC server was a full tower that had stopped
me from getting into my closet for close to two years. Pretty scary.
My main machine now is a Pentium 200 box
plus an external SCSI 4-drive case. This is real nice. In that box I have a Zip,
Jaz, CD-R and PC Card reader. It is really nice at boot up to see 7
devices working at once. Upgrading shouldn't be a problem as long as my next
box has SCSI.
I am just starting to look at my next box and all I know is that I want SCSI
onboard and dual CPU would be nice. I am considering Tyan
or Asus.
I mentioned the CD-R and PC Card drive above. I am really pleased with these
two. For now, let me just put some links to them here.

Another gadget that I bought a few months back and use almost daily is a little
Sony IC Recorder. I bought it from Bic Camera here in Ikebukuro for about 20,000
Yen. I heard that the there is an English version out now. I will try and find
the link.
ICD-R100
(Sorry no English.) And this thing still doesn't have a real page yet.
And now that I think of it, I did buy a 20MB Sandisk
CompactFlash disk a few months back. It was also less than 10,000 at
Wakamatsu. Wish I had a new camera to go with it.
I swear that that is all I can remember buying this year. Not too bad.
Wait a minute. I did buy a Planex
10/100 8-port Ethernet hub around January 1st from Plat'home.
That's all for now...
